An Article about Krav Maga

Krav Maga For Self Defense
If you are looking to get into martial arts for sport, style or fines then I would say that Krav Maga is not for you. Bottom line this is a no BS self-defense system. It is the official self-defense system of the Israeli Special Forces and has been taught U.S. law enforcement officers, U.S. military special forces and thousands of civilians across the country.
Krav Maga pulls out all of the body movements that traditional martial arts would instill into you from day one. Krav Maga actually only uses moves that are practical and are extremely easy to learn and remember. In my opinion this makes Krav Maga the best self-defense system for anyone beginners to experienced martial artist.
Remember Krav Maga is not a martial art it is a self-defense system. Krav Maga actually teaches you with practical scenarios and exhausting stress drills how to react to real world situations that you might find yourself in on the street. The method of stress drills that are used are actually quite impressive. I've been involved in 3 styles of Karate, 2 styles of Kung-Fu, and also a little Brazilian Jujitsu, I also dabbled in Tai-Chi for a little while and I feel that this is the most effective teaching system that I have come across.
The main problem with all the martial arts that I have been a part of, is that they are very hard to learn and remember when you are in a real world situation. Regular martial arts takes years and years to even see an improvement and that's with constant training and practice. Krav Maga was designed for people that didn't have a lot of time to train and practice. It was also designed to be very easy to learn and remember.
So, when your doing your research on self-defense don't rule out Krav Maga.

London Summer Olympic 2012 - Epic Martial News! Day 6

Now isn't that awesome looking or what?
The London Summer Olympic 2012, Countries have won glory & golds whilst some receive close-call wins and some regrettable defeats. And we are only hitting Day 6! Good luck to those who have not competed yet and well done to those who already did their country proud....or not..?

I'm sure many of us can simply look around for scores of their specific matches and teams on the official London Olympic Website, but what Wing Chun Bear is more interested to find are more impactful news!

Remember the controversial defeat of Yang-Shu-Chun from Taiwan during the Beijing Olympic 2008?

So without further ado lets look at the current big news in current Olympic news to Martial Arts.

Japan Victory? or lost? or win? I DUNNO! Tell us refereee!
Boxing, Japan Satoshi Shimizu lands a body blow to his opponent from Azeri named Abdulhamidov. Looks like a sure win to move to quaterfinals for Japan since Abdulhamidov fell to the ground whilst wobbling standing back up. However Referee gave Abdulhamidov a contradictory score of 22-17 whom which Satoshi lost. Clearly spectators booed the decision and later the referee decided to appeal for his previous decision and made Satoshi to move to the next round.....well atleast the referee is doing whats right....RIGHT?? more info courtesy of DailyMail.

Sit down Protest! soo its sitting down protest....don't the managers need to move on to the next match?
Supposedly sitting-down protest is not a new thing, you just sit down to protest something about the match until someone or something is being done. But of course theres always controversies! The news supposedly that Korean (sitting down) Shin Lam is winning and when suddenly the match was given some time extension and that gave her opponent German, Britta Heideman to get the upperhand and won. So it was an utter defeat for Shin who then made London Olympic's first sitting down protest! let the Protest begins!....supposedly she had the chance for Bronze match and lost that one as well.......well.........a lost is a lost right?...more info courtesy of the Telegraph

The path to win the Gold medal in the Olympic is very expensive.....lets start a brothel!
New Zealander, Logan Campbell who competed in the 2008 Beijing Sumer Olympic in Taekwondo didn't make it too far. Upon returning home he amounted a large sums of debt for his travels for the Olympics....(correct me if im wrong but dont they get sponsorship from the governement for these sorts of trips?) So for him to compete in this year's London Olympic he needs more money fast.....so he decided to open a brothel. To fund for his training.....(apparently). "Training" alright. tee hee...
Jokes aside, those who don't know, it is legal to sell sex under the right guidelines in New Zealand. He sold his business thereafter but with the press and the media won't let go of such story kept on bugging him about his past, calling him the a sleazy pimp. Some Olympics officials find it degrading to the Olympic community for having such a past. Logan continues to defend against the barrage of negative press. More info coretesy of Yahoo! sports.

Olympic will continue to be strong due to stronger competitors every 4 years setting new records but it is also the controversies the dramas and the weird that makes Olympic great! Keep them coming i say!

What would you do in this situation?

Self Defense is a major issue in today's society, Often times when people are faced in a life-threatening situation, they either panic and submit to the threat & dangers and even to the well-trained martial artist, they choke-up and could not execute what they were trained for.

*note: this is not the fault of the Martial Arts, nor the Martial Artist - Martial Art instructors trains differently even in the same styles. Some Martial Arts Instructors focuses on different aspects & philosophy, it comes down to what is in the training curriculum of the Martial Art/self defense classes*

The keyword here is street practical.

All Martial Arts are trained with self-defense application in mind, ancient or modern however without being properly trained in real-life scenario, because fancy kicking & punching won't get you anywhere when a gun is pointing at you/or when you are pinned on the floor.

Krav Maga –

used by the Israeli military. Heavy emphasis on real life scenario training. Focused highly on dealing damage to the opponent by striking, grappling and wrestling techniques, anything goes to provide opportunity to escape to safety. Physically demanding but for self defense, it is also suitable for all body types and all ages. No rules no nonsense, easy learning curve and very practical (for streets self defense)

You believe Krav Maga is for you? Click here or the picture below to get a head start to being training in Krav Maga in the comfort of your own home.

Wing Chun - Martial Arts Introduction

Wing Chun – Martial Arts Introduction

Due to world wide success of the Ip Man (2008) Movie, Wing Chun became even more popular since the days of Bruce Lee back in the 60′s. For those who may be asking why ….”why Wing Chun Bear? why not Karate Bear or Taichi Bear or Aikido Bear?”

Well as for the new visitors who doesn’t know me well enough, it’s due because I went on a trip to Yokohama Japan and I took a photo of the bear below, and the name just became an alias.

And for those who haven’t seen the movie Ip Man – I highly recommended :D

Taekwondo - New rules set for Olympic 2012

Taekwondo made it's first appearance at the Summer Olympic Games as a demonstration sport at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul when Korea was the host country. It later became a full medal sport at the 2000 summer Olympics in Sydney Australia and has been a sport in the Olympics since then. China demonstrated their vast number of Taichi practitioners during the opening ceremony, I wonder if we will expect to see some sort of Taichi competition in the Olympic one day?

According to some sources, Taekwondo is on the verge of being eliminated from the official Olympic Games, due to lack of popularity. (I personally disagree coz TKD community is larger than ever) but it raised concern to the WTF (World Taekwondo Federation)

What a low blow that was
Concerned sources & rumors states the reason being the lack of fairness in judging during the match. Often judges are criticized as vague and confusing. Olympics Taekwondo match are judged by one referee and 4 judges.....sitting pretty far from the action, BUT with the help of 2 cameras. Points & penalties are given when 2 judges recognize them. However due to flashy and fast movement & angles can cause ambiguous judgement.

So the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF)  addresses the issue with a total of five cameras around the court!

The community have growing concerns that TDK has lost its dynamic appeal and the games are not fun to watch....(really?) I personally find it to be the flashiest game to watch on TV, next to lightweight boxing and Judo. So for London games of 2012, the size of the court will be reduced to 8x8 meters.
The rules also been changed where a super flashy kicks & advanced attack moves will be awarded up to 4 points, making the sport more exciting to watch. That sounds like an excellent idea to me! this will change the fighters game and strategy completely. We might even see unexpected new stars coz now it allows for new moves we often don't see in the games.

Better yet, we might even get to see some rare knockouts in the London Olympic games this year!

Now here's a thought. Do you think London will feature Baritsu/Bartitsu in their opening ceremony? How cool would can it be to see a sport where the sports attire is to wear victorian attire with a top hat and fake mustaches? I sure wish to see that!

Happy Birthday Street Fighter!

Capcom Celebrates 25 Years of Street Fighter

A very good day to every Martial Artist and Street Fighter Fans alike. News from publishing company Capcom stating on the August 30th will be Street Fighter 25th Anniversary. Ryu took his first steps towards becoming the World's greatest Martial Artists/ Fighter 25 years ago and Capcom have some "big plans" for 2012 coming up to the August 30th.

What will be the big plans for 2012 I wonder?
A total remake of the original Street Fighter?
Ryu finally turning Evil for good?
or a complete bundle of all the Original Street Fighter series in HD/3D?
(My bet is on the latter)

For commemoration lets pay tribute to Ryu's 25 years of influence in Fighting Video Games.

Taichi Quan - Epic Martial Arts

Taichi Quan - "Some ancient slow Oriental dance that the Chinese people do every morning"

We've all seen them, in every corner of the world that may or may not have Chinatowns we see millions of people of all ages and all races doing Taichi. Back in the old days it is often mistaken by the western eyes to be some ancient dance people do to kill time.

Today we all known it to to be an exercise beneficial for the Mental & Physical whilst Martial Artist knows it to be a Martial Art based on the Concept of Ying & Yang. (i wont go deep into that now) It's a Martial Arts where many practice for various reasons; some to be health benefits whilst some to be physically fit whilst some are in it for the company & community and some are for the self defense & kicking arsee..

Often underestimated by other martial arts practitioners to see it being a slow dance, despite its slow dance-like movements Taichi holds various techniques and footings to create its hidden powers. As demonstrated by the video below in actual self-defense exercise we can witness how the techniques are being used.

Nowadays with the magic of the media & internet we get to see and study more the marvel of what Taichi Quan can do in the forms of Movies, Video Games instructional videos and often rare "fighting application" of Taichi we can now understand more of why Taichi is being practiced by millions all over the world by all ages and race.

Now we even get to see proper speed fights & application in a proper match using only Taichi Quan techniques, courtesy of youtube for finding this video.

As for the question wether Taichi Quan are applicable to the more hardcore Mix Martial Arts, its hard to say for we have yet to see one who uses them yet. And as for the haters who already disregard this Martial art to be ineffective they will continue to hate.

and all i can say is....
