Self Defense Tips – Training Tips by Paul Vounak

Self Defense Tips – Training Tips by Paul Vounak

Helpful tips that’s maybe useful for self-defense for anyone, martial arts practitioners or not. I don’t encourage everyone to follow what he is teaching FULLY especially for people who doesn’t have the proper training, however there are some tips that i can extract from that video and put it in point form that may be useful for self defense.

1) The slap – slapping is one of the most natural action human hands can do, aside from pushing/pulling and picking. So for the untrained people, slapping is easy to do and it protects your hand, should you fist lands on harder part of their skulls. Remember human Fingers are more brittle than human skull.

2)Remember when first train with a partner, hit their largest muscle for training purposes,i.e. their biceps, don’t go straight for the head or it will hurt your partner during the training.

3) When training make sure you and your partners are protected with paddings, or motorcycle helmets (if can’t find proper Martial Arts training helmets)

4) Using elbow and knee to strike vital areas, the Head, the Groin & the Knee

Once again, this is just a general  Self-Defense tips to take note when training for self-defense.

How to perform Seppuku or Harakiri for a shamed Samurai

Sucks i don't understand Japanese
I've come across this information from a news chain site, above is what looked to be a How-to guide to perform Seppuku or Harakiri for a Samurai. Wether if it's intended as a joke or its real is unclear (unfortunately I don't read Japanese) however it is the step-by-step guide seemed  very detailed. They seemed to have forgotten the 2nd guy who was supposedly to lop off his head.

For those who doesn't know what Seppuku or Harakiri is, it is an ancient ritual performed by the Japanese Samurai, when they feel they have dishonored their Samurai Code, or family or themselves or anything, they have this custom to perform Seppuku or Harakiri. Seppuku translate to 'stomach-cutting' whilst Harakiri translate to 'disambiguation'. - those who still don't know whats really going on its what they consider as a "ritual suicide" below is the video of how one perform a Seppuku.

below is a dramatization of how they perform the seppuku.

Taekwondo - New rules set for Olympic 2012

Taekwondo made it's first appearance at the Summer Olympic Games as a demonstration sport at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul when Korea was the host country. It later became a full medal sport at the 2000 summer Olympics in Sydney Australia and has been a sport in the Olympics since then. China demonstrated their vast number of Taichi practitioners during the opening ceremony, I wonder if we will expect to see some sort of Taichi competition in the Olympic one day?

According to some sources, Taekwondo is on the verge of being eliminated from the official Olympic Games, due to lack of popularity. (I personally disagree coz TKD community is larger than ever) but it raised concern to the WTF (World Taekwondo Federation)

What a low blow that was
Concerned sources & rumors states the reason being the lack of fairness in judging during the match. Often judges are criticized as vague and confusing. Olympics Taekwondo match are judged by one referee and 4 judges.....sitting pretty far from the action, BUT with the help of 2 cameras. Points & penalties are given when 2 judges recognize them. However due to flashy and fast movement & angles can cause ambiguous judgement.

So the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF)  addresses the issue with a total of five cameras around the court!

The community have growing concerns that TDK has lost its dynamic appeal and the games are not fun to watch....(really?) I personally find it to be the flashiest game to watch on TV, next to lightweight boxing and Judo. So for London games of 2012, the size of the court will be reduced to 8x8 meters.
The rules also been changed where a super flashy kicks & advanced attack moves will be awarded up to 4 points, making the sport more exciting to watch. That sounds like an excellent idea to me! this will change the fighters game and strategy completely. We might even see unexpected new stars coz now it allows for new moves we often don't see in the games.

Better yet, we might even get to see some rare knockouts in the London Olympic games this year!

Now here's a thought. Do you think London will feature Baritsu/Bartitsu in their opening ceremony? How cool would can it be to see a sport where the sports attire is to wear victorian attire with a top hat and fake mustaches? I sure wish to see that!

Street Fighter X Tekken VS Tekken X Street Fighter! - Martial Video Game

Street Fighter x Tekken came out recently and it was more than awesome! It received widespread acclaim for its good reviews of flawless fighting mechanic and seamlessly blending both fighting games strength and inspiration into one complete package in the Capcom world at least. My dreams even came through when they revealed the one and only .........
Ugly Boxart Megaman!
Now time have passed, nothing new have been revealed in regards of DLC content, all eyes and ears are on the Namco front. When Capcom's Yoshihiro Ono, was interviewed about their rival counterpart he has no idea when Tekken x Street Fighter will come out.

"Honestly, I haven't seen a single thing about it! Namco's Katsuhiro Harada is notoriously slow at making games, so it might be 2018 before that comes out!"

Clearly it was a joke when he made the remark.......

Or was it....????
Only the kremlins working in Namco would know what is going on with the production of Tekken x Street Fighter's development progress, but one thing is for sure we won't be getting the game sometime this year. So lets enjoy ourself with the news (lack of) screenshots and some fanmade stuff.

Lets hope we get to see the light of day for this game.

Effects on Pepper Spray - Self Defense Weapons

Chuck Norris doesn't need deodorant, he applies pepper Spray to grow his chest hair!
Since the Pepper spray cop incident with Lieutenant John Pike, large hose of meme flooded the internet with more than enough hilarious photoshopped pictures. But what about the serious side of things? when things become much more serious than the actual lightness of internet comedians.

So what are the effects of a pepper spray?
The main pain-causing ingredient in most pepper sprays have 5 major heat-producing elements that makes up makes of a load pain inducing chemistry.

When your eyes are hit by the spray, it causes instant inflammation of the mucous membranes in your throat and nose. The lining of your throat swells slightly -not enough for clogged your airflow but just enough to make it tough to breath. You will cough, gag and feel the need to breath harder for more air. It temporarily paralyzes your larynx, making it difficult to speak. Effects will last about 45 minutes until you recover from normal breathing rate.

It also shoots blood pressure up where blood floods your face, making it appear as if it has been burned. Making your face all red in the process. When exposed to the eyes it creates minute damage to the surface of the eyes and causes tears to sip out. Rubbing your face only makes it worst.

So by some freak accidents you happen to be exposed by all compounds to the eyes there are ways to help sooth the pain until the pain goes away.

Splashing lots of cold water will help in that way drinking water helps... but not immediately. Some Protesters from the actual incident says milk is the best way to fight the sting. When you think it's finally over, when the intense stinging has stopped: as a parting gift. You'll be sensitive to light for about a week.

Sounds bad? It used to be worse. When the fiery concoction was first used in the US in the late 1970s, the percentage of pepper to spray was more severe—as were the effects when you were hit with it. Early versions could force the detachment of the entire corneal epithelium, causing a condition that required medical care for weeks.
So it seems like the negative effects of a pepper spray have lesson with new technology, however it is always important, at the end of the time, your life & the people you influence is more important than anything. It is one of the many options for a self-defense weapons
